Seven Sustainable Movements Here To Stay
By Steve Kleber, president and founder, Kleber & Associates
Yudelson Associates, a green building consultancy, predicts green building will continue to grow more than 60% in 2010, using new, cumulative LEED project registrations as a proxy. Market research firm SBI predicts the U.S. home energy renovation market will grow about 15% per year until it reaches $35 billion in 2013. And NextGen Research predicts that the global market for green building materials will grow 5% per year until it reaches $571 billion in 2013. Here are seven sustainable movements identified in Steve Kleber's Marketing Home Products blog: 1. The energy retrofit boom.
2. Smaller is better (in terms of home size). 3. Water conservation. 4. Home metering systems. 5. Energy labeling of homes. 6. Zero net energy buildings. 7. Eco districts.
