IN MEMORIAM:
Norman Menaker, 87, who served the plumbing industry in various capacities for 60 years, died of heart failure July 26 at his home in Lawrence, NY. He was founder and president of Cobra Wire Co. in New Jersey until he sold the company in 1971. Then he started his own rep business, Norman Menaker Organization (Long Island, NY), representing many of the major U.S.
plumbing manufacturers as well as overseas companies. Menaker also was founder and president of NMO Specialty Manufacturing Corp., Long Island, NY, a manufacturing, importing and repackaging company of specialty plumbing parts, which was sold in 2001. He remained active in the manufacturers rep industry until early 2008. "He was loved for his gift of communication and known to all as a gentleman," said his daughter, Stefanie Menaker.
Izetta Marie Lute, 88, of McDermott, OH, who co-founded Lute Plumbing Supply (Portsmouth,
OH) with her late husband, C. Hobert Lute, died at her home Aug. 30 after a long illness. She was the mother of Christopher Lute, chairman/CEO, and grandmother of Jason Lute, president/COO, at Lute Supply. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at
11 a.m. at the F.C. Daehler Mortuary Co. Portsmouth, OH. American Standard launched online tools designed to help conserve water. Its new interactive
Water Savings Calculator
allows users to estimate how many gallons of water and how many dollars they can save by converting to various water-efficient fixtures and faucets. The Web site also provides a current listing of water conservation rebates available throughout the United States.
Whirlpool Corp. announced that two of its senior account managers, Lanny Tillery and Richie Heumann
, have earned Certified Green Professional (GCP) designations from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The GCP distinction recognizes Tillery and Heumann as building industry professionals with knowledge of the best strategies for incorporating green building principles into home building. |

Manufacturing has created what it believes is the world's largest copper island
range hood for residential use. Custom made, it measures 126 inches wide by 92
inches deep by 45 inches high and is constructed of hand-hammered antique
copper with smooth antique copper tiles. The hood features trims and crown
molding in non-directional stainless steel. It houses 18 micro baffle filters,
removable grease trays, 16 LED lights and has the added feature of replacing
air taken out of the kitchen.

Barclay Products Limited offers a cast iron slipper
bathtub with claw feet. It is 60 inches long, available with or without deck
holes. It includes non-skid strips. The tub is available with a painted white exterior
or unfinished. Finishes for the claw feet include white, polished brass,
polished chrome, satin nickel, oil rubbed bronze or unfinished.

Lasertron offers a recessed stainless steel cabinet that emits a rainbow of light. The
sleek receptacle can double as a medicine cabinet and a nightlight. The
