Partnerships.
Now that we are in December and some parts of the country are blanketed with snow and/or ice, struggling with heavy rainfall or other challenges, it’s great to be able to turn to a neighbor for some help. If you need an extension cord to start your snowblower, if your car doesn’t start, if you need to clean out a flooded basement, a friendly neighbor really comes in handy. That’s when the "partnerships" you have established really pay off. We’ve just learned about a new partnership involving the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

has promoted Dave King to chief operating officer effective immediately. King formerly held the title of chief financial officer at Swanstone.
Masco Corp. announced that Alan H. Barry, 64, stepped down as president and chief operating officer in November, and that Chief Executive Officer Timothy Wadhams, 59, has assumed the additional title of president, and Donald J. DeMarie, Jr.
, 45, executive vice president, will serve as chief operating officer.

Basco Shower Enclosures has released the 2008 schedule for Basco University, the company’s training program that offers installers intensive, hands-on classes on the proper techniques and methods for best installing glass shower doors and enclosures.
Kohler Co.
recently announced its sponsorship of this year’s Charmin Holiday Restrooms (pictured) in New York City’s Times Square, by providing water-conserving toilets and faucets in the bathrooms. The 20 public restrooms will feature the KOHLER Barrington Pressure Lite 1.1 gallons-per-flush toilet, which utilizes one-half gallon less water than a standard toilet. It carries the EPA’s WaterSense label. All bathroom faucets are from the new KOHLER Margaux collection, featuring a joystick-style single control function for on-and-off and temperature control, and equipped with low-flow aerators, reducing the amount of water delivered from 2.2 gpm to 1.5 gpm.
More than 420,000 people from 100 countries and all 50 states visited the Charmin Holiday Restrooms during the 2006 holiday season. The 2007 Charmin Holiday Restrooms opened Nov. 19 and will be open daily through Dec 31. |

Vortens announced that five of its high-efficiency toilets completed certification testing through IAPMO Research and Testing, Inc., an independent testing facility, and now qualify for
WaterSense
water efficiency designation from the U.S. EPA. The five toilets are the Tornado ADA (Pressure-Assist Elongated with 1.0 gpf/4.0 lpf) (pictured); Tornado (Pressure-Assist Elongated with 1.0 gpf/4.0 lpf); Delfos (One-Piece Dual-Flush Elongated with 1.6 gpf/6.0 lpf and 1.1 gpf/4.0 lpf); Rhodas DF (Dual-Flush Elongated with 1.6 gpf/6.0 lpf and 1.1 gpf/4.0 lpf); and Dali (Dual-Flush Elongated with 1.6 gpf/6.0 lpf and 1.1 gpf/4.0 lpf).

introduced a new series of High-Efficiency Urinals (HEU) (pictured) that utilize only 1 pint (0.125 gallon) of water to flush. The new Sloan HEU systems combine the vitreous china fixture with either a manual or sensor-operated Flushometer. The HEU urinals contribute to LEED Credits 3.1 and 3.2 for water use reduction.
