My Kitchen Remodel Day 36: Rock On!

Five weeks into his kitchen remodel, Tim has some sweet surfaces to admire.

It’s Day 36 of our remodel and I’m digging the granite that was installed yesterday. The installation pros at Great Lakes Granite and Marble got it right this time and everything fits beautifully. We have just one seam and it’s barely noticeable.
Now that we have countertops and cabinets again in our kitchen, I realize how much we’ve missed them. For the last six weeks (including an extra week for the initial tear-out), we’ve been shoving kitchen things in the dining room, hall closet, and the basement.
The emerald pearl is easy on the eyes, although Deb sees less emerald and more pearl in the countertops than she expected. The reflective flakes give off a cool blue/silver appearance to compliment the dark background.
By changing our viewing angles or the lighting, we see different things each time. I like it!
The installer told to use diluted soap and water or Windex to clean the tops, although the alcohol worries me. Anyone have a suggestion on what to use to bring out the best shine and still protect these beautiful surfaces?
We’re in the home stretch on this remodel. Final trim, backsplash, and new lights are still head, but we see the finish line.
Every time I look at the exact manner in which all the parts of pieces of this kitchen remodel have to fit together, I’m glad there are B&K PROS who excel at this work.
