Wow, what a difference a day makes.

After a weekend spent walking on boring gray cement, I returned home Monday night to find most of the kitchen tile set.  It was my first glimpse of what will cover the kitchen, foyer, hallway, guest bathroom and laundry room.

A couple months ago we visited Virginia Tile near our house and fell in love the glazed porcelain Jerusalem tile, manufactured by LEA Ceramichice in Italy.  Our tile guys are laying down a four-size pattern using Ghihon Beige tiles which offers wonderful texture and styling.

Fortunately, we love it.  I was worried that on the night we selected it we saw it in the store under different lighting.  Not sure what we would have done if we hated it!

I looked at the kneepads, trowels, and adhesive containers and noticed how really straight the tiles were.  I was extremely thankful that I’ve got B&K PROS doing this work.  I’m afraid to think of how badly butchered the floor would be if I tried to do it.

Over the weekend we searched for appliances and we think we found the winners yesterday.  Appliance shopping is a lot harder than I thought.

We started at Lowes, which has a nice selection, thinking that we’d pick out some stainless models and be done.  But EVERYTHING is now stainless, so that didn’t make our job any easier.  I’ll share more on the appliances in a few blog update.

Today we’re just enjoying the new floor, and we’re looking forward to the end of the week when it’s all installed and grouted.
