It’s been less than two months of remodeling and we now have a brand spankin’ new kitchen. We’re loving it and looking forward to the next 50 years (OK, that might be pushing it a bit) in this beautiful environment.
During the last week, Al completed the last few tasks. He installed a very cool backsplash made of pearl-colored Tumbled Marble tiles, which resembles our Jerusalem stone floor. The 4-inch by 4-inch tiles sport Aspen Silver-colored metal medallions. They are a nice accent to the natural-looking backsplash tiles.
Al then could finish the Cabinet trim. The cherry-colored cabinets are made by Kitchen Craft and feature a raised panel, with trim top and bottom. To add a little splash, my wife Deb requested a braided accent strip. It lends a little tradition to the new look cabinets.
Not only are the cabinets taller than our previous cabinets, we added a few on the sides that angle. Instead of 90-degree edges, we now have some custom additions. And with some of the cabinets providing more usable space for our needs, we feel like we’re gaining an extra 20% or more in space.
While I had to grit my teeth a few times over the investment cost, I continue to read that money spent on kitchens is money well spent. I can only hope!
More importantly, we now have a kitchen that feels like “home” and should last us a long, long time.
And yes, I would do it again!
